Empowerin & Healing the Whole Me Program

Nurturing the Soul, Body, and Spirit Through the Transformative Power of the Arts

At IT'S YES! Performing Arts Institute, our mission is to inspire and elevate students’ self-worth through the arts—teaching, training, and empowering young individuals to discover their identity, embrace their unique gifts, and rise above life’s challenges to fulfill their greater purpose.

Our Violence Prevention & Awareness Program embodies this mission by equipping students with essential tools to resolve conflict, practice self-protection and empathy, and walk boldly in their identity—with confidence, creativity, and compassion.

📍 Where Does It Take Place?

The program is implemented across our campus—in classrooms, studios, and dedicated performance spaces. These creative, familiar environments provide a safe and supportive setting for students to explore difficult topics through artistic expression.

👧🏾👦🏼 Who Is It For?

The Violence Prevention & Awareness Program serves students in Kindergarten through 10th grade. Additionally, 11th and 12th grade students who have completed the program are eligible to return as volunteer camp counselors, gaining leadership experience and earning community service hours toward college applications. This peer leadership model not only fosters mentorship but also strengthens our culture of accountability and empowerment.

🎭 What’s Included?

  • Interactive workshops on safety, empathy, and self-respect

  • Child trafficking prevention through age-appropriate, empowering content

  • “Conflict Courtroom” performances to explore real-life issues and peaceful solutions

  • Artistic expression through theater, dance, music, songwriting, and visual art

  • Guided reflections, group discussions, and student-led presentations

🛠️ How Do We Do It?

At IT'S YES! Performing Arts Institute, we address real-world challenges through creative, healing, and transformative learning experiences. Our five-step framework ensures students don’t just learn—they grow:

  • Learn It: Through workshops, storytelling, and open dialogue

  • Live It: In arts-integrated projects and daily classroom culture

  • Act It Out: Through “Conflict Courtroom” simulations and drama-based problem-solving

  • Reflect & Grow: Via journaling, visual art, and student presentations

  • Lead: Encouraging students to become ambassadors of safety, peace, and purpose

🕒 When Does It Happen?

The program is integrated throughout the academic year and includes:

  • Monthly workshops and community awareness events

  • Curriculum embedded in performing arts and social-emotional learning (SEL) classes

  • A mid-year capstone: The Conflict Courtroom—an interactive theater-based project where students explore real-world issues through role-play and collaborative conflict resolution

Why Is It Important?

Because every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and valued—not just on stage, but in life. This program helps students:

  • Discover their worth and voice

  • Prevent bullying, violence, and exploitation, including child trafficking

  • Build emotional awareness, empathy, and healthy boundaries

  • Envision a future beyond current circumstances and develop the mindset to achieve it

👥 Who’s Involved?

  • Students (K–10): Engaged learners at the heart of the program

  • High School Volunteers (11–12): Former participants giving back as peer mentors and camp counselors

💡 Empowering Purpose Through Prevention

When students feel safe, heard, and valued, they thrive. Our Violence Prevention & Awareness Program not only helps them protect themselves and others—it equips them to lead with purpose, confidence, and compassion.

Because prevention isn’t just about safety—
It’s about purpose.

IT'S YES! Performing Arts Institute Mission Statement is: To motivate and build student's self-esteem through the arts, by teaching, training, and empowering the minds of ordinary young people with extraordinary gifts to understand who they really are; how to love themselves; what they can and will become by looking beyond their circumstances to fulfill their true purpose in life.
